George Laub (1814-1880) was born in Pennsylvania and raised by his adopted father, George Weidler, from the time he was 8 years old. When he was 18, he began his trade work as a carpenter. He was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when he was 27. He soon thereafter moved to Nauvoo to join the rest of the Saints.
